Greetings from Ogema.....!

So here is the other half of our "roof project" . This is what occupied my brain during the summer of 2013..... Click on these photos for a larger view.

 

 

 

 

 

We painted the new 2x6 rafters as they would likely be out in the weather a while, and I didn't want them soaked up with rain water.....

 

 

 

Two skylights had to come out, one was not going back in (white area) and the other would be replaced with a new one on the new raised roof surface.

I must say, there was more than a little head scratching going on here, but it all came together in the end.....

 

 

 

 

 

 

Before the spray foam guys showed up, I pre-cut all the angle pieces of OSB. Tacked in place for fitting, then removed ready for final install.  It was such a big roof that I didn't want to spend any time making odd cuts once the foam was in place.  Needed to get it foamed and covered on one day.

Soon after, we got going on the OSB installation. Ladders, ladders, ladders.......

Late afternoon, all OSB and tarpaper is on the roof!!

 

 

Fortunately, I have some great friends who made this project possible......

 

 

Next day the Roof Doctors showed up.....

 

 

 

 

 

I thought this was cute....

 

 

 

I had cut a piece of OSB the same size as the skylight opening, attached to some ledger strips on the inside or the light opening.  After the skylight was installed by the Doctors, I was able to remove the ledgers and OSB from inside the house.

And there it is! I never thought it would ever get done, but after months of figuring, climbing ladders and scaffold, it was finally complete.  I think I was lazy for a few weeks afterward.....
