Da Palace.......

I mentioned the "palace" being built in the Wintergreen area, showed the start of the digging and the footing forms going in. A number of days later and the block work is almost done.

A few days after the walls were done, we poured the basement floor. Good thing Ivan knows about block work and concrete.....




Brothers Dan and Pat Lord, brothers Lee and Todd Fisher and Tom Lochner (no brother good-in-law) are building a new hunting lodge.... I mean palace. Here we see the walls all in place and the loft floor built.




We built a really tall, cathedral style roof. Lee and Todd were up on vacation and the others went up each afternoon and they really got a lot done. We put the plywood on the entire roof on a Saturday.




It's starting to look quite official.....




I went to help on the roof one day, and Ivan had this nice scaffolding in place. Fortunately, it was too hot to work on the shingles so we went to the resort for a burger and some other items.




Peg and I stopped up at the palace on the 4th, the guys were done and gone already. They got the wrap on, the doors and windows installed. Ivan had done quite a lot of shingling as well.




So, it's moving along nicely for a bunch of people with day jobs. Ivan reported that on the weekend, one gable end wall had been built, the wrap on it and the curved, sunrise type window installed. Shingles quite close to being done, so that means I can show up there again, because unlike Tom, I DON'T LIKE shingling.......


I'll put some photos on here next of Chris and Ashley's wedding! It was a nice day, a good wedding and I found that I had no competition for the champagne that was at our table. I don't like champagne..... I LOVE champagne.
