Thanksgiving, phase 2

.

O.K, here it is, the food part of Friday. A luscious spread of good food, lovingly prepared by (mainly) Margaret and Jenny, but everyone helped with the meal. Except me, as I was busy documenting the event.

Jenny made some bread, basically Lucy's molasses bread but with maple syrup in it. It was GREAT!!

The turkey was awesome, even though it did have stuffing in it.

It was a feast for the eyes, not just the taste buds.

Piera took orders for pie after the meal. Jenny did quite a bit of studying of the list, but I think it all worked out O.K....

The pie list included banana cream, chunkin piffon (with salt), regular pumpkin

and this apple crumble pie brought by Candice. Häagen-Dazs ice cream for that. Did you know that the name Häagen-Dazs is not some cool European name, but rather was completely made up by the U.S. maker of the stuff? I heard this on one of those Sunday morning quiz laugh fests on NPR.

Piera and Larsen delivered the pie and it all disappeared quickly.

After the meal was complete, the card sharks took ownership of the dining table for some hard core poker.

Wow, Margaret and Jenny really took over the kitchen... Everything was perfect, and it was all done at the same time. Kate, the table looked gorgeous even before the food was brought out. Cindy, it was so nice to see you again. It had been years since we have seen you. It was fun to watch the kids getting into the fun of helping. Bryn I'm so glad that you were able to join us both Sat and Sun. I guess I got spoiled when we saw you and Rosie every weekend. Lucy, thanks for the pinochle instruction, it will be interesting to see how much I remember by next year. :) Jenny, my kitchen buddy, I always enjoy your enthusiasm, your hard work, and most of all, your attitude. I realized that I didn't have time to chat with everyone, but, I do thank you all for your part in this fantastic gathering...
Lucy, you and Herb have certainly got something to be proud of with this crew.... top to bottom, each with special talents, and goals... and the traditions will continue, from the looks of it.

Thanks to all of you for making this a most lovely Thanksgiving for all of us.

What a nice Thanksgiving we had. It was so nice to see Gene and Peggy again. Long time between visits. We were out to Debby F's today and helped trim her tree and the house. She has so many nice decorations.

Love, Mom
